Dine-in/local - get it laced! But I *love* that Lynwood does half-cooks packaged for shipping (and that we have awesome Masshole friendos who ship to us in Texas! ) Trial and kinda-error has proved that cooking them on the grill at home is 100% the way to go. Air fryer, oven, metal pizza pan, stone sheet - nothing else gets the crust crispy and the edges laced like the grill does. Linguica - Portuguese sausage - with bell peppers is my absolute fave! Hubs loves - but due to Dutch Oven'ing after effects is no longer allowed to have - the Bean Special You really can't go wrong with any Lynwood bar pizza (And the place itself is supercute too)
No question, there is simply nothing better than Lynwood Cafe- don't waste time getting bar pizza anywhere else. Order yours laced and crispy for an other-worldly pizza experience that will keep you coming back for more, even if that means waiting two hours for pick-up on a game day. You'll wait, dammit, and you'll like it. Even their kinda-odd bean special pizza (beans, onions, salami) will get your mouth watering if you're brave enough to try it and if you're not, that's fine, save it for the rest of us. Bury me at this cash only, no-frills bar/pizza joint and let waitress Gail give my eulogy- she has no idea who I am but will sweetly pretend to, as always.
Finally got to try my first South Shore bar pizza. I went right at opening (11:30 AM) and was first to place my order, but I still had to wait 30-35 minutes. However, there is a large parking lot, so I just waited in my car. The lady working there was very friendly. Note that this place is cash only; there is an ATM inside. By the time my order was ready, the place was bustling with diners. The size of the pizza is perfect for one person, which is one of the defining characteristics of a SSBP. The first slice I tried was cool from the drive home. I heated up the rest of the slices, which was the move, since they tasted sooo much better hot. The pizza was very thin but stiff (no flop), with a cracker-like crust. The cheese had a rich, deep flavor with no pull. My only complaint was that it was too salty (I was thirsty for quite a while afterward), but I really enjoyed the pizza overall.
Lynwood is a classic pizza spot in town that probably looks the same as when it first opened serving South Shore bar pizza. There is usually a wait and be sure to put your name down at the bar for a table. The restaurant has a local and retro vibe. Cash only. I got half special and bean special that is cooked crispy to hold the toppings. You'll definitely will want to request utensils! The bean special is the first time I have had baked beans on a pizza and it is pretty good. The pizza is loaded and the crust has a perfect crunch. I really enjoy the pizza here and if you're not able to dine in there was many people picking up.
I was visiting from Alabama and a buddy (local born and raised) recommend this pizza (do they call it a pie?) spot. The pizza was incredible and the staff were so awesome. Highly recommend if you're in the area!
This was our first south shore bar pizza, and while we weren't huge fans of the crust (a bit dry/bland), the toppings were really delicious. Overall, a reasonably priced pizza and would probably visit again. Still yet to compare it to the other big pizza players in town!
Lynn Wood Cafe is a hidden gem! I had the sausage, cheese, onion, and mushroom pizza, and it was absolutely incredible. The crust was perfectly baked, the toppings were fresh and flavorful, and the combination of flavors was just wow! The cozy atmosphere and friendly service made the experience even better. Highly recommend this place for pizza lovers!
I've been coming here for 3 generations and now bringing my children. It's that good. Bar pizza style. Make sure you get it laced!
